ECMM 2022, a sustainable conference

The human origin of global warming is a scientific reality. As scientists, we believe that our responsibility is to take action to minimize our CO₂ emissions in our personal and professional lives. However, creating and maintaining links between people is also very important in Science and the recent pandemic revealed how important it is to meet in person.

We believe that with everyone’s participation, we can make ECMM 2022 a great human and scientific meeting without compromising with our ecological commitment. As an international event, more than 95% of ECMM 2022 emissions will be due to travels by plane.

As participant, you can take action:

• If possible, choose train over plane. Rennes is very well connected by TGV train to Paris airport and to several European cities (through Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon …).
  
  
• If possible, book a direct flight.
  
  
• Once in Rennes, use public transportation rather than taxi and preferentially book hotels with a green label, or hotels with a lower number of stars. The congress center is directly in the city center and can be reached by foot of by metro very easily.

As organizers, we are committed to compensate the emissions due to the conference

• For this reason, we will kindly request you to provide us with the means of transportation and initial city from which you are travelling when you register.
  
  
• Based on your declarations, a donation to the ReforestAction company will be made. We will not go through the complicated process of certified emission reductions that we believe are not adapted to our small organization.
  
  
  
  
• We will make sure that the catering service (lunch, dinner, coffee break) will respect this philosophy by favorizing as much as possible seasonal products,local producers and eco-responsible waste treatment.
  
  
• Booklets will not be printed and only available online.
  
  
• Goodies will be excluded from the conference kit.
